One Bright Thing

The Nostalgia Of Familiar Songs

Some days, it’s the simplest of things that brighten my day. Today, I was listening to music that I forgot existed. It was music from almost two decades ago. Music that brought back memories from college with friends.

I am not someone that listens to music intentionally. It was always a means to keep me company while driving, running, or sometimes in the shower. But, now and then, you come across a piece of music that brings many memories and makes you want to dance.

Today I had such an experience while listening to a bollowood song, barso re (Let it rain), from the movie Guru. It reminded me of the time when it first came out. I used to listen to the song on repeat. I loved it so much that I memorized the whole piece.

Listening to it after so long was a perfect wind down for my day before I began my evening meditation and reading routine. Some days, a little music and dance are all you need to lift your spirits. I am grateful for those when I do have them.
