On Being You and Free Newsletter
“I don’t know what I want.” I hear this from friends who want to change their lives but don’t know where to start.
That’s why I created On Being You and Free — a space for personal stories, tools, and reflections that help you live a more self-aware, happy, and meaningful life.
In this newsletter, we’ll explore how to:
- Be More Self-Aware: By training our minds through meditation and mindfulness. Meditation helps us get to know ourselves better, serves as an anchor for making better choices, and enables us to navigate life’s ups and downs more effectively.
- Build Meaningful Relationships: By surrounding ourselves with those who truly matter. If our time on Earth is limited, consider how you want your loved ones to remember you.
- Live Intentionally: An 80-year-old once told me that after she turned 70, she no longer cared about what other people thought of her. Do we have to wait our whole lives to live the way we want? We’ll discuss how to live authentically and free ourselves from societal expectations.
On Raising Connected Children
As a parent, my top priority is forming a close bond with my child. I know firsthand the impact of growing up without emotional connection.
Every now and then, I’ll share reflections on raising grounded kids who value joy over chasing external validation.
I don’t just want a successful child — I want a child who calls home for advice and visits often as an adult.
What to Expect with the On Being You and Free Newsletter.
- Weekly long-form reflections delivered every Friday.
- Daily short reflections via Substack notes.
About Me
For years, I chased goals that didn’t mean much. I became an engineer because it was what was expected and provided financial stability. I was good at my job, but it didn’t align with who I was or how I wanted to contribute to the world.
During the pandemic, I started journaling and writing articles publicly. It felt like a calling to help others through the written word.
I realized many people live their lives on autopilot, chasing goals that aren’t truly meaningful. They rarely stop to ask if it’s what they genuinely want or what the cost of achieving those goals might be.
A couple of years ago, I left my corporate tech job to write full-time and help others become more self-aware and live happier lives.
I am a writer, meditator, and former IT professional. Running makes me feel free. Meditation and yoga ground me. Journaling gives me clarity.
Learning the violin as an adult reminds me to focus on the journey rather than the outcome. I love traveling and learning about new cultures in my free time.
My writing comes from real-life experiences, insightful books, and conversations.
