One Bright Thing

Keep Going Regardless Of Expertise

Someone once asked me, What makes you an expert? I don’t have a psychology or mental health degree, and I am not a therapist. So what makes me an expert in writing about the things I do? Why should anyone listen to you?

I am not an expert, I said. I am a learner. I am learning to train my mind to deal with life’s ups and downs. I am learning how I can be happy. I am learning how to live freely without any inhibitions. As I learn, I am bringing the reader along on my journey and sharing what I learn.

How many musicians have we not seen who have never attended music school? How many programmers have built brilliant things without a degree in computer science? We can’t let credibility stop what we want to do in our lives. It will come when it does.

This quote in my house on this president’s day brings me the joy and inspiration I need. It’s a reminder of why we should keep going regardless of self-doubt and the doubts of others.

‘One person can make a difference, and everyone should try’ –John F. Kennedy.

Happy President’s Day, Everyone.
