About Me & The Blog
Hello! My name is Shilpa Kapilavai (Pronounced – Kuh-P-Luh-Y). Thank you for visiting this blog. The blog was born through my passion for writing. For making a difference in people’s lives through my writing.
Through articles in my blog I hope to help people become more self aware and become their best versions. I believe self awareness is the key to making good choices in life.
When we really put in the work to know ourselves better we can offer our best to others. We understand our strengths and weaknesses which help us be our best at work and personal lives.
I am fascinated with people, human connections and love learning about how the mind works. I began my meditation journey a few years ago to learn how to best navigate life. It has done wonders for me thus far.
In this blog, you will find articles on mindfulness that will inspire you to meditate regularly and live a balanced life. Life is full of ups and downs and meditation helps to mindfully navigate them and not be swept away by every new emotion.
Coming In To My Own
I grew up in India and came to the US for my masters. As a child I was sheltered so the majority of growing up for me happened in the US.
I have come a long way from where I started and learnt to deal with anxieties through self coaching and some hard life lessons. I went from being a shy young woman who was scared of public speaking to being able to confidently speak in front of a large group of people.
In this blog, you will find advice on overcoming your fears and mental barriers to achieve your goals and dreams. I believe that we can achieve anything we set our minds to if we let ourselves dream without inhibitions.
Background & Interests
In my day job, I work in the field of technology. Working with a group of people on one mission brings me joy.
I am a mother to a loving boy. He inspires me to keep going.
I am also a Certified Montessori Teacher. I took a break from corporate and taught in the classroom for a few years when my son was born. This came from a desire to give back and make a difference. Montessori philosophy really resonates with me.
I am a wife to an ever supportive husband. I am sure he really appreciates this line because he doesn’t hear it from me that often 🙂
You will also find articles on relationships in this blog. I believe in people being self-sufficient and financially literate. It’s easy to lose yourself as a parent and a spouse.
Other than writing I enjoy reading, running, crossfit and exploring other cultures through travel. I will continue to share reviews of the books I am reading in the areas of self improvement.
I am forever on a quest to be a better version of myself and I plan on taking you along my reader on this journey.
Thank you for reading. I hope my blog posts resonate with you. Please leave feedback if you can. I would love to hear about what brought you here.
