One Bright Thing

A Champion’s Mindset

Although I am not big on sports, I admire the dedication of people who push themselves toward achieving their dreams. World class-athletes are a great example of that.

One thing that brightened my day was the inspiring talk by basketball star Lebron James within the Calm App. Lebron talks about what it means to be a champion.

To him, being a champion is a mindset. He shares with us the three essential things it takes to have a champion mindset:

  1. The preparation we do matters more than the competition itself. Lebron says that if he can do everything he can to prepare, he can deal with the results. It didn’t matter if he won or lost.
  2. A champion mindset focuses on the team, not just the individual. Success comes from groups of people rising together and working together to achieve a common goal.
  3. A champion’s mindset means to focus on the present, not the outcome. It is to focus on the process, not the outcome.

Lebron James’s humble beginnings, loyalty, and dedication toward being a better person on and off the court inspired me today.
