One Bright Thing

The Soul Detox

I may have mentioned that I am currently reading, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. The author has the readers do specific weekly tasks to unlock their creativity.

This week, Julia asked us for a week of reading deprivation. Reading, according to her, is an addiction for most blocked creatives. Without it, we begin to hear our voice and our thoughts.

This addiction, a way of numbing ourselves, I feel exists in all of us. Whether it is reading or media, or alcohol. We are constantly in tune to entertain ourselves.

This week’s lack of reading and media feels like a soul detox. I have been so intentional about what I am letting in my system that I feel alive.

Have you tried a soul detox lately? Do share your experience.

In a dark time, the eye begins to see.
