One Bright Thing

New Week Day Discipline – One Bright Thing

Starting this week, I have decided to watch TV/Other Streaming only on weekends. This newfound time on weekday evenings allows me to read and listen to more podcasts.

Day 1 of no screen and more reading brightened my day today. Screen time can be a special treat after a productive work week.

The book 7 Habits of highly effective people inspired this new habit. In the book, author Steven Covey writes how too much undisciplined leisure time ensures that a person’s talents remain undeveloped, that the mind and spirit become lethargic, and the heart is unfulfilled.

I look forward to all the personal growth resulting from my new habit. But, of course, it’s more of a lifestyle change than a habit. Please don’t count me on it during vacation, though. I like my movies too much to give them up during breaks.
